Inspiration

Let boredom consume you
Let complacency ensnare you
Let fear devour you
And leave you helpless against the plight the world has left you in
Give in to mediocrity
Resign yourself
Ignore the spark
Ignore the hint of inspiration
Pay no mind to the fire
Pay no mind to the idea growing
Breathing
Becoming
Turn away from the blaze
Turn away from the person you can see
The person you want to be
The person you can be
The spark has ignited you
Inspiration has overtaken you
Let boredom subside
Let complacency release
Let fear go hungry
The world isn’t ready for what you’re about to let loose

The Screen Goes Black

Another (semi) recent one...

The Screen Goes Black

In between the flickers and starts of web pages
My screen goes black for brief moments
And I’m treated to my reflection
Caught unawares by it, truthfully
And I’m staggered at how disenchanted I appear
The loneliness I emit
An expressionless reflection
Offering no answers
Only more questions
Are things better on your side of the screen?
We each hope so
But we know better
I want nothing to do with this depressing portal
This accidental mirror
That has given me more awareness than I wanted
More heartache than I was ready to absorb
I cringe at what he has imparted
For that sad bastard makes me want to crank up the brightness
And look away
Rather than face the darkness
Of a screen - and a world - gone black

A or A or C

A new(er) poem...

A or A or C

What have you taken away from me?
What have you given back?
What if I asked you to pray for me?
What if I said religion’s a hack?
What if the truths you have told me
Were just lies you sold to yourself?
What if the heaven you promised me
Was a carefully constructed hell?
What if this world is for suckers?
And the leeches call themselves sane?
But these righteous and poor motherfuckers
Are just roosters atop weather vanes.
